I played Madison Square Garden tonight with Matt Nathanson. We opened for O.A.R with Gomez. It was sold out and O.A.R. taped a live DVD. I thought we killed it. We also had a new drummer named Lyle Molzan. He’s a Canuck from Toronto and plays with Jann Arden. He is a total bad ass and the band has NEVER sounded so good. I’ll post some more pictures later. What a great experience!

Madison Square Garden
// January 28th, 2007So much….
// January 8th, 2007So much has been happening lately. I’ve been recording the new Tenlons Fort record with Jack Gibson. I’ve also been busy playing local shows with Suzanna Choffel, Erin Condo, Sarah Glynn, Craig Marshall, Jade Day and Dave Madden but I’m about to hit the road again. January 12th through the 23rd I’ll be playing bass with a fantastic singer/songwriter named Brett Dennen. He is a mix of Dylan, Paul Simon and Jack Johnson. He opened for the last leg of Matt Nathanson’s tour last year. I finish out this month in NY with Matt and we are playing a show at the world famous Madison Square Garden opening up for O.A.R. and Gomez.
We finish Matt’s record in L.A. in February and then I jump back on Brett’s tour in Lexington, KY on the 19th and I’m with him until March 18th in Dallas. We’ll be playing some shows during SXSW and I’ll get to be on tour and sleep in my own bed at the same time. That’s the way it should always be.
Go listen to Brett (iTunes) and check out his MySpace.

On Air Tonight With Suzanna Choffel
// August 20th, 2006
I’m playing on KVRX 91.7 FM tonight with Suzanna Choffel as part of Local Live. We play from 10 – 11 PM. I think there will be an archive of the show online if you miss it. You can also listen live online via Real Player (STREAM) at the KVRX website. I love playing with Suzanna. It’s pretty much the perfect gig for what I do as a bass player.
EDIT: The show was a blast. Here is a clip of Weeds. SCWeeds
HERE are some pictures from the taping.

Fall Tour with Matt Nathanson
// August 15th, 2006
Things are gearing back up with Matt Nathanson. There have only been a few fly out shows this year with some recording in the spring. We have a gig opening for Train at The Greek Theater in Berkeley next week and then the tour starts up on September 15th with our show at the Austin City Limits Festival. Then there are a few days of rehearsing and the rock starts in L.A. at the Roxy as part of our co-headlining tour with Carbon Leaf. They have some great songs and I hear they are great live. It should be a blast and it will end sometime in November. More dates to come.
Jade and Blu
// May 19th, 2006Such a colorful weekend. I play tonight at Momo’s with Jade Day and tomorrow with Blu Sanders. I’m playing the ol’ doghouse bass with both of them with lots of bowing on both gigs. Jade has been a weekly gig for the past month or so, but it’s been years since I’ve played Blu. He lives in Nashville now. I really miss playing with him and I’m psyched to play with him and Jason White (drums) again and we’ll have Aben Eubanks on guitar. Aben and I played together in Matt Nathanson’s band and now you’ll find him playing with Kelly Clarkson.
Matt Nathanson in Rhode Island with Lifehouse
// May 3rd, 2006We did a co-headlining show at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island with LifeHouse. I always forget that Matt is so big in the North East that a University would booked us us on a co-headlining show with a band that has several huge singles. I guess it goes to show how a grass roots following can have a similar impact as a shit load of radio airplay. The show went as well as can be expected considering it was in a gymnasium and we were using rented back line gear. I twisted up my knee after the third song, so I gimped around on stage the best that I could. We got to see some of our favorite fans, which is nice since we probably won’t do a full tour until the fall at the earliest. Matt wants (needs) to finish tweaking lyrics for the new album which is basically ready to go as far as the band is concerned, so that is a priority this summer. I know we have some fly-out gigs in June like the Ever-fine festival in Cleveland and a KFOG radio show in San Jose.
LifeHouse are a bunch of great guys and they write some incredible pop songs. I think they are cursed with being the guys that have songs that everyone has heard, but no one can name the band that does them. Or maybe that’s just me.
